Terms of Service
Draft: pending lawyer review. Not legal advice. This text has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before launch.
These terms are an agreement between you and [TBD: legal entity name and registered address] ("Farlane", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Farlane you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. Our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Refund and Withdrawal Policy are part of these terms.
The service
Farlane teaches people to use AI assistants at work through short lessons, practice exercises with AI feedback, and certificates of completion. Lessons ask you to work in your own Claude or ChatGPT account. Farlane is not affiliated with Anthropic or OpenAI; Claude and ChatGPT are their trademarks, and your use of them is governed by their terms.
Who can use Farlane
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. Farlane is not offered in Russia, Belarus or regions under comprehensive sanctions, and you may not use it from there or on behalf of anyone located there.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details secure and tell us at once if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for activity on your account. One account is for one person.
Payments and subscriptions
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the merchant of record for all our orders. Paddle handles payment, tax, invoices and refunds, and the purchase itself is governed by Paddle's buyer terms.
- Prices, the billing period and the renewal price are shown before you pay. Prices include tax where the law requires.
- A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- Cancel at any time from your account page, in two clicks. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again.
- Your first payment comes with a 14-day refund, and consumers in the EU and UK also have a legal right of withdrawal. See the Refund and Withdrawal Policy.
- If we change the price of your plan, we tell you by email before the new price applies, and you can cancel before it does.
AI feedback and certificates
Exercise scores and written feedback are generated by AI. AI scores are feedback only: they help you improve and can be wrong. Certificates are based on completing the lessons, not on an AI score alone. You can ask for a human review of any AI score on request by contacting us; a person will look at it and reply.
Certificates show that you completed a Farlane course. They are not an accreditation or a professional qualification.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, infringe anyone's rights, or use Farlane to send spam or commit fraud;
- try to access other accounts, probe or disrupt the service, or scrape it;
- resell, copy or redistribute the lessons;
- submit content that is unlawful, harassing or that you do not have the right to share;
- paste personal data about other people or your employer's confidential information into exercises.
You are responsible for what you submit and for how you use what AI tools produce for you. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
Your content and our content
You keep the rights to what you submit. You give us a licence to store and process it only to run the service for you, including sending it to our AI providers for feedback. The lessons, exercises, design and brand belong to Farlane or its licensors; your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them.
Availability
We work to keep Farlane available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or retire features; if a change materially reduces what you paid for, you may cancel and ask for a pro-rata refund.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend or end an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. If we end your account without cause, we refund the unused part of your subscription.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your mandatory rights as a consumer. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. [TBD: liability wording for consumers in the EU and UK.]
Changes to these terms
We will tell you by email at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then.
Governing law
[TBD: governing law and courts, depending on the seller entity.] If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
