Cookie Policy
Draft: pending lawyer review. Not legal advice. This text has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before launch.
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies Farlane uses and the choices you have. It is part of our Privacy Policy.
How consent works
When you first visit, a cookie banner asks for your consent. Only strictly necessary cookies are set before you choose. Analytics and advertising technologies that need consent stay off until you accept them, and you can change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer. Declining is as easy as accepting.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies make the site work and cannot be switched off:
- Session cookie: keeps you signed in and protects your account.
- Language preference: remembers the language you picked.
- Consent record: remembers your cookie choices so we do not ask on every page.
First-party analytics
We run first-party analytics: product events (for example, that a lesson was started) are sent to our own servers and are not shared with an analytics vendor. We use them to understand which lessons help and where people get stuck. [TBD: confirm whether any first-party analytics identifier is stored on the device, and its lifetime.]
Advertising pixels
We may use advertising pixels from partners such as Meta and Google to measure our ads. Advertising pixels load only after you consent to advertising cookies. If you do not consent, these scripts are never loaded and no data is sent to these partners through them. We support Google Consent Mode, so Google tags receive your choice before they run.
Third-party images
Some images are loaded directly from Unsplash. Loading them sends your IP address and browser data to Unsplash. Unsplash does not set advertising cookies through these images. [TBD: confirm with Unsplash's current policy.]
Changing your choice
You can withdraw or change consent at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.
Attribution
